Nebraskans are pro-life leaders

This Letter to the Editor appeared in the Lincoln Journal Star Opinions page on January 10, 2018.

Meg Mikolajczyk and her employer, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, are perhaps the only people who believe (or profess to believe) that the people of Nebraska are not pro-life (“Planned Parenthood license plates OK’d in Nebraska,” Dec. 28).

One need only speak with ordinary Nebraskans to know they respect and value human life from the moment of its conception, and that their values stand in stark contrast to the contrary, radical pro-abortion values of Planned Parenthood.

Nebraskans have been leaders in passing pro-life legislation – such as the nation’s very first law protecting unborn life at 20 weeks – and have assisted countless women in crisis pregnancies, peacefully protested to protect unborn human life and consistently elected pro-life candidates to public office since the imposition of Roe v. Wade on the nation and our state in 1973.

There is no doubt that Nebraska and its people are pro-life.
